As a North Dakota native and lifelong resident, Derek has a day-to-day understanding of the region’s booming energy, agriculture and technology industries. He also greatly believes in partnering with other trusted advisors and professionals to greater serve his clients. This has led to an expanding national footprint of clientele. His involvement in the Big Brother Big Sister Program, Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber, Downtown Referral Club and Williston Chamber of Commerce, help him stay close to the communities he serves.

He has a passion for learning, which is why he’s an active member of MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table) and seeks continued education as well as the latest in industry practices and strategies. In 2018, he completed a three-course certification to become a Certified Family Business Specialist through the American College to greater serve and understand the closely held businesses he loves working with.

Derek lives in West Fargo with his wife, Liz and his two German short-hairs Rhett and Indy.
